In 2008, American-born photographer, Kevin Lynch, exhibited his conceptual portraiture series, Octagon: Ultimate Fighting Championship. These works chronicle the culture and extraordinary athleticism of the mixed martial arts fighting champions.
Lynch embarked on a four-year project with the UFC, resulting in the Octagon series of art works, as well as the publication of a deluxe, limited edition artist book by Powerhouse and Zuffa, LLC, which includes an introduction by David Mamet and essay by Dave Hickey.
Octagon speaks to an unusually eclectic readership: fight enthusiasts, photography and fine art collectors, anyone and everyone interested in a primal corner of Americana.
